Reviews for Butlin's Traditional Fish and Chips
Review highlights
Based on 68 reviewsButlin's Traditional Fish and Chips is generally praised for its friendly staff and clean, inviting atmosphere within the resort. Customers appreciate the freshness and flavor of the fish, often describing it as well-cooked and served hot. The takeaway option and lunchtime specials offer reasonable value, particularly for children’s meals. However, common feedback points to inconsistent service speed, with some patrons noting longer wait times than expected despite the restaurant not being busy. While the food quality is often highlighted as a strength, there are occasional remarks about the oiliness of the chips and the limited menu options for adults. Overall, the establishment is recognized for its welcoming environment and satisfying classic fish and chips experience, though some improvements in service efficiency and menu variety could enhance guest satisfaction further.
We went and ate in for the lunchtime special (12-3 only). The food itself was great, took about 25 minutes to arrive but apparently that was due to the kids meals. The drinks took about 20mins (there was only 4 of us) and the restaurant was far from busy. Staff were all very friendly, would eat in here again. I don’t know if this is different to the takeaway service
Fish was very hot (in a good way) we had 2 fish and a large chips which was plenty to go around, Very close to a out of resort chip shop staff friendly and sauce was free everything was good
Clean, and excellent customer service. One of the best fish and chips I've ever had, freshly cooked and perfectly made. Although costly it's not the most expensive I've seen and the child's menu meal deal is very reasonable. We are very happy we choose to dine here on our first night
Bright, colorfull, inviting chip restaurant located in the heart of butlins. Hospitality: service was quite close to expected time. Staff keeping watch on our needs was a tad forgetful; a it took a long time for our food to arrive. (Note desert was better thanfully). Food: 4.7/5 I had the classic cod with chips a Bread n butter on side. Chips were OK, a the cod was beautifully done. Relatives had fishcakes which were average quality. For desert I had a honeycomb cheesecake which was different for me; but still full of flavor. Building: 5/5 layout was very fitting and presented to fit the theme a the seaside location. Everything was very neat a tidy
My children liked it and wanted to go back. I didn't see anything to eat for myself. I tried one chip, it was very oily, the chips looked like cooked in Vero old oil. The service was very quick and nice. Lots of space to seat, at least when the indoor seating area is open. Unbelievably they open at 1pm not for lunch at 12 when everything is closed.
Haven't tried most of the menu but the loaded chips were lovely and great value for money
Lovely place for fish and chips. Although quite pricey at just shy of £3 for a small bag of chips. There isn’t an eating place inside, however, there are seating places outside should you wish to use. Staff friendly and service was really quick.
Courteous and helpful staff. The food prepared came to us in a timely manner. We had the fish and chips, prawn cocktail, fish cake . The food was really good . Well prepared and presented. Definitely have a go at the place cause you won’t be disappointed .
